How E-Business Will Transform Information Technology

We've all seen a number of consumer sites on the Web, like Amazon.com. In the spring, we heard about Fleet's online banking product. This month's speaker will focus on the business-to-business transactions that are taking place on the Internet. Every day, more and more businesses are jumping on the bandwagon of E-Commerce. Mr. Hannon will discuss how this business has evolved, and what it will look like the future. He will illustrate the topic with tales from his personal experience as well as specific examples in the trade press.
One trend that Mr. Hannon will discuss is the development of vertical "portals" for specific industries. These portals are a collection of companies that can satisfy a certain industries' needs through Internet transactions. Mr. Hannon will also discuss the future of Virtual Private Networks, as well as the impact of Business-to-Business Internet transactions on legacy systems.
